Registration - Junior Netball
How do I register for junior netball?
You need to contact your School Netball Delegate or School Office.
The junior netball programme caters for any number of players from your school, from one individual, to several teams.
Year 1 and 2 teams
The minimum number required to register a team is 5 players for Year 1 and 2. A maximum of eight players per team is recommended. If there are not enough players from a single school to form a team, we are happy to accept registrations from individuals, and make up teams from these players each week. Schools can register a mix of teams and individuals if they need.
Each team registration must be accompanied by at least one Star Helper registration. On Game Day (Saturday), Star Helpers supervise a small group of children under the guidance of the Junior Coordinator (provided by MK). Star Helpers need to attend a futureFERNS training course and be available on Game Day. There is no umpire, but a Junior Coordinator or a Star Helper is allowed on to the court to assist and support players during the game.
Year 3 and 4 teams
The minimum number required to register a team is 6 players for Year 3 and 4. A maximum of eight players per team is recommended. We prefer to register Year 3 and 4 players within school teams. However, if there are not enough players from a single school to form appropriate sized teams, we are happy to accept registrations from individuals, and make up teams from these players each week. Schools can register a mix of teams and individuals if they need.
Each team registration must be accompanied by at least one Year 3 and 4 Coach registration. On Game Day (Saturday), coaches supervise a small group of children under the guidance of the Junior Coordinator (provided by MK). Coaches need to attend a futureFERNS training course and be available on Game Day. There is no umpire, but a Junior Coordinator or Coach is allowed onto the court to assist and support players during the game.
Grade Selection
There are no grades in junior netball and there will be no scorecards or competition rankings. However, we ask schools to indicate on the Year 3 and 4 registration form the overall experience level of each team and we will try to put the most/least experienced teams into the same game round.
